Community Benefits and Connections
As the population in this region of the Lowcountry is expected to grow by double digits over the next five years, it is critical to ensure proper access to healthcare. As a result, Kiawah Island and Seafields residents will receive state-of-the-art services and peace of mind. Considering that the number of injuries related to falls has practically doubled over the last two years in the area, there is a great need for healthcare services. It could take residents 30 to 45 minutes to find nearby medical assistance, but with this new facility, highly trained medical professionals will be available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
At Seafields at Kiawah Island, the technological integrations of home controls coupled with the telehealth compatibility of MUSC Health make life for retirees and seniors a breeze. Not only will the in-house MUSC wellness clinic pertain to the across the street facility but the same goes for the overall network. At Seafields, this includes MUSC home health services for residents who opt to receive care directly in their independent living residence rather than transition to an assisted living residence when they need assistance.
It is anticipated that by 2024, there will be an additional 31,000 retirees and seniors in the area. This new medical facility will provide both primary and specialty care, thereby enhancing the convenience and accessibility for residents. Furthermore, it provides a safety net for retirees who are interested in joining the Seafields community.
